We were glad to put an end to a very long day yesterday! We got to the hospital around 11am and Michael was taken back at noon to get prepped for surgery. They started around 1pm and the doctor told me the surgery would be about 4 hours!!!!!!!!!!! Great..... 4 hours of me freaking out, worrying.....
4pm rolled around and no word yet.... then around 4:45 the doctor came out to tell me he was done and things were good. The surgery lasted longer than expected, due to the fact that when the doctor went into his ear drum, Michael was missing something. Under the ear drum, most people have 3 small bones and Michael only had 1.5 and the half bone was kinda connected only by scar tissue..... so he had to use artificial bone and replace what was missing! The bone was pretty badly infected but they expect him to make a full recovery and we'll have to wait to see if he can hear out of that ear- that's still up in the air, but at least he won't have to deal with all of the infection and drainage.
Just as we were pulling into town, the pain meds started wearing off, so I hurried to CVS after picking up Bode at Nanny's and we got Michael home, Bode to bed, dinner and got Michael settled with pain meds. Last night was ok- Michael didn't sleep much but the pain is tolerable as long as he is on the Tylenol 3 and his dizziness has started to diminish already!
I'm glad I'm working in Lititz today in case Michael needs anything!! I will continue to post updates.... but for now, here is a picture of his head gear! We can take this off after 24 hours
Father's Day was fun for us! We were at my parents' house Saturday night and had a great date and Sunday morning we came home and it was a great day out! We walked with Bode and Koa to the park, Bode's new favortie place
Daddy got a new weed wacker for Father's day and Bode had a great time playing with the box!
