Friday night A Basket Case officially graced Lititz with its presence and Lititz will never be the same!!!!
Everyone worked SO STINKING HARD to get this done by 'Second Friday' and we did it. Second Friday usually goes from 5-9 and the stores open their doors, give out samples, sometimes there is music and art outside, etc. It's a great way for the community to get out and walk around downtown. Friday was a beautiful night and the turnout was great!!! We handed out the Bode's famous 'Beer Margaritas' and they were an absolute hit..... people were very disappointed that we weren't serving them every Friday! We had hundreds of people coming in our doors and so far, we have heard that we are the cutest/most fun store to come to Lititz... seriously, we heard that from several Lititzians who have been here their whole life.... what a positive way to start!!!
So this is what the store looked like when we signed the lease- it used to be a jewelry store, so we got a great window!

And Friday we have arrived! The sign says our new slogan that Mom and I came up with.... since our store is filled with shelves and things all over the walls it says..... 'Forget the malls, shop the walls'!!!!
This is what it looked like inside before..............

And after...... MUUUCH PRETTIER!

And after...... MUUUCH PRETTIER!

So as you can see we have a lot in the store and we have such a huge mixture of things.... our stock is constantly changing which is exciting because people will keep checking in to see what we have! I want to thank everyone that came out Friday night- we had a big group of family and friends that came out to see us and it means so much to me that you all were so excited and came to support our opening!
I'm bummed that Michael wasn't here cause he would have had fun, but he is having a blast camping.
Saturday I worked again and although we had a decent crowd, the whole town was kinda slow today- I believe there were a lot of graduation parties this weekend, as Warwick's commencement was Thursday night. After working, I went to the pool for Anthony's graduation party and to see my little man! He had such a fun night at Nanny's and had a BLAST at the pool! Thank you Nanny!!
When we got home, Bode was exhausted, so he had a bath and went to bed. So our grass was in serious need of a trim.... I haven't cut grass since I was probably 15. My parents used to have a riding mower and before I got my license, i thought it was fun driving it around to cut grass! This past week, if Michael wasn't playing softball, it was pouring so there wasn't a chance to cut the grass and because of all the rain we got, the grass was ridiculous. My poor father in law.... I must have called him 3 times! The first time was because i couldn't start the mower (didn't know about the starter button)..... i called him a few other times, one because i ran out of gas and wasn't sure which nozzle was for gas or oil- oh my!!!! I believe my neighbors next door and across the street probably had a conversation that went something like this.....
Neighbor 1- "Hey Bob, you aren't going to believe this but not only is the lawn finally getting mowed, but the wife is doing it
Neighbor 2- No way, are you kidding? Does she know what she's doing??
Neighbor 1- Not a clue... in fact, she keeps calling someone to ask them how to work the mower hahahahaha
Neighbor 2- Dave I have a great idea, bring over a 6 pack and we'll sit outside and watch how crooked her lines are
Neighbor 1- Great idea, I'll be right over
Ok, ok, so i will give my neighbors credit... maybe they said something like....
"bring over a 6 pack and we'll see how long it takes her to finish"
Regardless, I'm pretty sure I could have charged an admission fee and made a pretty penny having people watch me try to cut the grass.... all in all it was really fun and a great workout- despite the fact that i had my long run this morning and did arms at the gym :(:( I'm going to be so sore tomorrow!!! I'm excited though, because Michael will get home and be sooooooooooooooo floored and he won't have to cut the grass so we can spend more time together. he will probably not believe me and think the neighbor cut it! haha
Tomorrow I'm bringing Bode to my Mom's and Sara and Alex are coming with the boys and we are all going to the pool! Bode will be all swimmed out this weekend and he starts his new daycare on Monday. I'm nervous because I think he will be upset with us leaving him there in the beginning, but hopefully it won't take him too long to adjust!
