Bode started his first day at his new 'school'.... it's really just daycare, but it's new. With Michael starting his new job in Reading and me working in Exton part of the time, Nanny's house is about 25 minutes-half hour in the opposite direction of the way we go to work :( Unfortunately, it was becoming a lot of extra hours just driving to and from and more fill-ups at the pump. I found a daycare center near our house that is fantastic! We are still, of course, using Nanny 2 days a week so Bode can get his Nanny fix and play with his cousins still.
The new daycare is a PECC (Pediatric Extended Care Center) which basically means that they have a full time staff of nurses on hand. Half of their kids, the 'non typical' ones, need medical attention of some kind. Some of them are babies who are preemies that have tubes, need special feeding, CPAP, etc. some kids have diabetes and need insulin and some kids have down's syndrome and are in wheelchairs and need special attention.
The other half of the kids are on the 'typical' side and those include kids like Bode who are healthy as can be. They have about an even amount on both sides and often times the kids play together and interact. The nice thing about this daycare is you only pay when your child is there... none of this "if you go on vacation you still pay crap"! The other great thing is that with a full time staff of nurses, i dont worry about Bode being there or getting hurt and if he has a fever or needs something from the doctor, the nurses can administer it and I don't have to keep him home or drive there to do it myself! We are excited for him to start because it's also great opportunity for him to play and interact with kids that are in wheelchairs and have disabilities and he will hopefully grow up learning how special and fun these kids are and how they are just kids like himself.
Today was his first day and I can't stop thinking about him! Of course, the day is dragging on foreverrrrrrr..... when i dropped him off this morning, he cried at first, but by the time i had gotten to the front door, he noticed they had a kitchen with cash register and he was quickly distracted. I called once today to check on him and he is having a ball. The older toddlers were outside playing and they brought him out because of how advanced he is and the kids are drawn to him because he is new. The owner said he is climbing all over and playing with the kids so I'm in good spirits for him! I don't remember my Mom dropping me off at daycare as a kid, so I'm not worried he is going to think we just abandoned him!!
