First Annual Madara Pig Roast!

We had so much fun with our pig roast! First things first, our little curb appeal that we have been working on, and will be working on for a long time- we have been working on our rock wall- here is the before of our outside lawn

here it is without the hideous bushes and our new rock wall! Michael has done a great job and the picture really doesn't do justice. We are going to get a new door and paint the shutters a different color, so our curb appeal is an ongoing process!

We still have to mulch and plant things, but we still have to finish the wall. Michael was able to take it back to the deck and then we are going to wind it around the deck area

Holy cow, it's amazing what a power washer can do! This was our sidewalk (on the left side).... who knew the concrete was actually whitish in color! YUCKKKK

Ok so the pig roast was so fun- we thought about making this an annual event, depending on how things went and we will definitely be doing this again!!! It was easy and so much fun!!! I'm going to warn you, there are pictures below of the pig- uncooked and cooked.... but not alive, don't worry! And let me clear things up here because I have been accused of being a hypocrite with the pig truck talk. I hate pig trucks because pigs are ugly, smelly, nasty and smashed in trucks with their tails and noses sticking out- I dont hate pig trucks because pigs are cute and i dont want them to be butchered..... i eat meat and know where it comes from!
Now that I've made that clear, enjoy the party pictures!

So even though the pig roast was my idea, I didn't think I was going to have to see the pig uncooked.... i thought they would put it in a black bag or something- oh no, it was clear!! Bright and early Friday morning we drove to Intercourse to pick up the pig at Stoltzfus Meats (highly recommended)

We stuffed the pig with ice and wrapped it in a tarp overnight.

We woke up Saturday morning at 5am to turn the roaster on and Michael rubbed the inside with seasoning and then we basted the outside with olive oil

We put the pig on at 6am and were ready to carve it at 1

Bode getting a sneak peak of the roaster

Kurt and Bode were playing this new game that Joni bought- we saw some guys at the beach playing it and they called it redneck golf.... Kurt called it donkey balls- i didn't ask why!

Leo and Dave helped carve the pig and IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!!!!!

Makayla and Bode playing with the tool bench

The kids found the stash of toys in Bode's room and there were toys all over the living room

We had a few periods of heavy rain, but luckily we had tents and the sun came out in the afternoon- Scott and his brother, Mark talking in the tent while it's POURING

pictures of the party

Code was SOOOO tired!!! he played outside most of the day and is used to sleeping all day- he sat like this on Amy's lap forever!! I had to make sure he was alive

Matt and Matt

the ladies that made it to midnight haha- Lisa, Andrea, Jamie, me, Kim, Devon

Sunday morning Michael and I felt pretty rough- and Bode wanted to play play play!!
Daddy and Bode reading......... of course his Stanley book!

We want to again thank everyone for bringing dishes of food, wine, etc. and coming, we had an absolute blast and were so excited to be able to see all of our friends and family that we haven't been able to see much this summer
