Right before we got our Christmas tree we re-arranged our living room. the new way makes it look so much bigger and open and we love it!!
The day after Christmas my Mom bought me this plant- it's my most favorite flower EVER- Stephanotis- they only bloom once a year so they are really expensive, but they smell amazing! The smell reminds me of a Gardenia- one of my other favorites! Anyway, mine just opened and I am so excited!!!

What's that you say..... nice pictures?? Hmmm, that must be because I got a new camera for Christmas from Mom & Dad- I loooove it!
Scott & Michael started our grout last night and we have about 1/4 of the basement done!! Michael had to wipe the grout down last night after it dried and it looks perfect
So some bummer news is we can't re-do our basement steps :( We wanted to do real hardwood steps going downstairs and Scott realized last night that our steps are kinda built into the wall around them.... these steps must have been custom-made for the basement... now we are stuck with a decision- do we carpet the steps (which I don't know I want to do because you would go from hardwood floors upstairs, carpeted steps, then tile basement.... not sure it would flow) or find some way to re-do the finish and get some kind of covering that we can stain because we don't want to paint the steps! Any suggestions, let us know!!
Sleeping angel!!
Bode is at work with me today for the first time in about 2 months- wow what a difference. There are thousands of things to get into here.... we have our dinner tonight for work and we have a sitter- i will need a huge glass of wine I'm sure!!! He is into everything, but so darn cute and trying to walk everywhere!

How about painting them some color that looks wood-like? and then having a cool carpet runner tacked onto them, one that is modernish and would look good from either the wood floors upstairs or the tile floor downstairs...
You could tile the risers or paint them white to tie in with the trim, then beef up the treads, (I'm thinking 2x12's?)and then wrap them with carpet. I saw this on some home improvement show. It looked like a good update on TV!
