Our Sick Boy

I came home from Maine with quite the bad cold- mostly just in my throat, but pretty bad. I was very careful to use anti-bacterial stuff and keep my distance from Bode as much as possible..... but he got sick and we thought it was from me :(

He had a little cough here and there last week, but nothing substantial at all... until Tuesday. While feeding him, he had a coughing fit that lasted almost 5 minutes straight... I was freaking out! He was breathing and wasn't blue, but it was like he had mucus in his throat and couldn't get it up and he was gagging.... that happened twice on Tuesday before I finally had enough and took him to the Pediatrician. They checked everything, even his pulse-ox level..... luckily Bode had a coughing fit while there, so they could see how bad it was. I left without answers :( He had no fever, his chest was clear, throat wasn't red, ears looked fine, heart sounded fine, etc. The doctor said it's either very early stages of a cold or maybe teeth. Bode woke up Wednesday with a runny nose and really runny diapers (eeewwwww lucky us). His cough is better- it is just a cough here and there, nothing like the 5 minute battle he had on Tuesday. Michael and I think it's his teeth, given the fact that he has no fever, his boogers are clear, and he has runny diapers (I have heard these can all be signs of teething and we know his teeth are coming in any day).... if any Moms out there have advice on this, please let me know what you think! At least Bode is still sleeping through the night- we are SOOO lucky to have a baby that loves his sleep almost as much as Mommy & Daddy :)

Another sign we knew something was wrong is that Bode is constantly sleeping!! Besides the fact that he's growing like a weed, I think the coughing and not feeling well wipes him out! He never falls asleep while we're holding him lately- he's too busy and curious now!

I just love these pictures- I was doing dishes in the kitchen while Bode was playing on his blanket.... one moment I looked up and he was chewing on his caterpillar..... the next minute I looked up, he was out cold!!
Yes, he's a thumb sucker, much to our dismay- we pull it out whenever we can, but he usually only does it when he's falling asleep- we were worried about his teeth growing in crooked but the pediatrician CLAIMS it'll be ok for his teeth as long as we get him to stop before his adult teeth grow in!

Babies are just so peaceful when they sleep!!
