8 Weeks Old

Bode is growing like a weed! We took him to the doctor on Monday because he has a little bit of a cold :( and he weighs in at 12 lbs. now! It's quite the workout carrying him around all the time. He must have gotten a little bit of a cold somehow, so he has the sniffles and an itty bitty cough- but seems to be getting better.
We have been very busy lately. We had such a fun weekend visiting the Cohen clan in Philadelphia. Charlie and Bode got to spend more time together and Michael helped Sara (or Sara helped Michael) put a tile backsplash in their kitchen (which by the way, turned out fantastic)! Mom and Dad took us out to dinner at Monk's Cafe (http://www.monkscafe.com/) while the Cohen clan had their Seder dinner. I'm not one for eating Mussels, but let me tell you- Monk's Cafe had the most AMAZING (Yes, Kristi, AMAZING) Thai Curry Mussels...... my mouth waters just thinking about them! They had great food and a huuuuge selection of belgian beer- it was a great time! We then played cards and hung out with our friends Dave & Mike til about 1am and with Bode waking up at 3am, it was a long Sunday for us!!
I had a great run on Saturday, along Kelly Drive. It was so beautiful out and there were hundreds of people on the trails so I got to do a lot of people-watching while I ran. Speaking of running.... the Race Against Racism is Saturday morning- I'm running in it with my friend Kristi. I'm so proud of her- she is new into running and is diving right into things with this race.... Way to go friend!! I'm so excited to get back into racing, but am still a little nervous because I'm not as confident about my mileage as I would like to be going into this race, but I have absolutely no expectations about placing- I'm just looking forward to finishing at a decent time for me.
Michael continues to fish (although not as often as he would like I'm sure) as much as possible, while helping with Bode, going to the gym, working small side jobs for friends and family..... it seems that we take shifts lately. Bode cannot attend the gym daycare until he is at least 3 months old, so one of us watches him while the other works out, and then we switch.... it works out nicely and we both get to do what we need and spend time with Bode, but it seems like we barely see each other! This week is especially tough, as Michael has softball practice, I have soccer, cleaning, Michael is going out of town tonight to estimate a job, and leaves Friday for turkey hunting :( At least we'll get to spend lots of time together Saturday night and Sunday! Sunday night Michael, his Dad, my Dad and my brother in law have box seats to the Sixers/Pistons game so that should be a fun guys night out for all of them!
Bode is so excited because his Aunt Jamie is watching him Friday night and Saturday morning while I race.... Jamie is sooooo excited to finally have him overnight, and I'm sure the Ober kids are excited too. If it's nice out on Saturday, Bode will get to go to his first soccer game- to see Matthew play!
Michael's softball team will start having games soon and The Cove (restaurant where I sometimes waitress) is opening their deck soon, so I will probably go back to picking up one shift per week- the food there is absolutely awesome and I have so much fun waitressing (http://alleykat-cove.com/Cove/index.html). The Madara's continue to stay busy as usual and we are having soooo much fun with Bode! He seems to get bigger every day and is cooing and making noises more and more. It's funny how the time just seems to zip on by without you realizing it.
It's such an amazing feeling being a Mommy and the love that I have for Bode is just indescribable; I'm sure you fellow Moms can relate. I see my "boys" and the family that Michael and I have created and it makes me so proud!!!!!

We had friends over for BBQ dinner last week and here are some pictures of Michael's cousin, Nic, holding Bode for the first time!

Charlie loved hanging out with Baby Koa (his name for Bode). Bode just stared at Charlie as he would talk to him! Too cute!!Bode seemed to like it when Charlie and I would dance around the house!

Here is the finished kitchen- Great job guys!!
