Progressing.....

So, several people predicted that I would have the baby yesterday (February 6). People thought that because it is Waitangi Day (an Australian holiday that I decided to celebrate at work last year as a joke) and thought that would have been ironic for me to have the baby then..... well the early morning of February 6th, I had contractions from 2am-6am, about 3 or 4 an hour... nothing to get too excited about, but it was my first time experiencing contractions. I know I will regret this later, but I was actually excited to feel real contractions!!! I was surprised because Nalu was moving around heavily the entire time I was contracting, and I thought babies were generally mellow during that time.... hopefully that doesn't mean we have an overly-hyper child, but if the baby is anything like I was as a kid, we're in for it!
Well I had my doctor appointment yesterday morning and she checked to see if I was dilated and although it's not much, I was 1 1/2cm dilated, which is at least a start! I chuckled to myself thinking how funny it would be to have Nalu on Waitangi Day, but knew it would probably not be the case.... and then around 3:30 yesterday, I lost my mucous plug! I was so excited!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure visiting the doc and having her check me helped move things along, so things are definitely progressing!!
Unfortunately, I found out last night at my family doctor that I have strep throat :( I told him how careful I tried to be when Michael had it and he said it's so contagious, if anyone is the house gets it, it's almost certain everyone will have it. So add to my swollen hands and feet, an irritated chest and horribly sore throat with congested sinuses, and I am one giant happy Momma!! Knowing that things are finally progressing is keeping me going though, we just can't wait to meet the baby!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Christy and Michael, Looking forward to hearing that the baby is here. You are surly on your way. Could be Hope's or Krista's birthday. Would you beleive that Uncle Bill had Strep when Brad was born. He kept a mask on and didn't tell anyone! Hope you will both feel better soon. Love, Aunt Lynn
